7 things to check before a concrete pour

A pour cannot be undone. The last check before pouring, from rebar to weather.

Once a pour starts, the fix for a mistake is usually a breaker. So we use the same list every time.

1. Rebar spacing and cover

Measured on site; spacers complete.

2. Formwork and props

Clean, oiled, plumb and braced.

3. Openings

Shafts and sleeves in place.

4. Delivery notes

Class, slump and batch time for every truck.

5. Samples

Fresh tests and labelled specimens.

6. Weather

No pour below 5 °C or above 30 °C without a plan.

7. Curing

Ready before the pour.
